Job Description:
---Under the direction of the Laboratory Director.---Performs
phlebotomy; prepares cytology specimens; processes specimens prior
to analysis.---Performs departmental clerical duties.---Performs
preventative maintenance on minor equipment; cleans
glassware.---Participates in team activities and quality
improvement.---Ensures that quality care is provided in an
efficient and safe manner.---Demonstrates performance consistent
with the mission, philosophy and goals of the
organization.---Remains flexible to changing systems.---Treats
staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and
respect.---Interprets data about the patient's status in order to
identify each patient's age specific needs and provide the care
needed by the patient group.---Fulfills other related
responsibilities as assigned.o If trained to do so, assist in
pathology with cover-slipping of samples, filing, and other related
responsibilities when needed.---Must work well under stress or
tight deadlines.---Must work well with supervisors, co-workers,
patients/residents, family members and visitors---Licensure: Must
possess a valid Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or II certificate
issued by the State of California. ---Education: A minimum of a
high-school diploma or equivalent.---Experience: Any combination of
training, education, and work experience which demonstrates the
ability to satisfactorily perform the responsibilities and duties
of the position.---LVMC reserves the right to modify the minimum
requirements depending on the needs of the organization.
---Skills/Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with patients, coworkers, hospital and
medical staff. Must possess adequate phlebotomy skills for
difficult adults, children, and newborns. Ability to cope with
stressful situations on a regular basis. Ability to work without
close supervision. Ability to work rapidly while maintaining
quality. Ability to prioritize activities as appropriate. Excellent
verbal and written communication skills. Exercises good judgment,
demonstrates initiative, emotional stability, tact and poise.
