Job Description: Perform as a project lead in the design, modification, implementation, documentation, functional test, and operational acceptance of new and existing communication systems required to support Eastern Range launch operations. Essential Functions: * Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Range Communication Sub-System hardware and operational requirements. * Perform as the lead project engineer in the development and presentation of proposed design solutions, with cost and schedule information, for management approval of implementation. * Manage assigned projects within budget and schedule constraints. * Identify system deficiencies and develop cost effective design solutions to meet operational requirements. * Conduct market surveys to determine state of the art solutions to satisfy design requirements. Prepare reports regarding new technology and present to appropriate personnel. * Create and maintain system design and operational documentation to support configuration control regarding hardware and software implementation. * Conduct/support Level 1, 2, and 3 testing to qualify systems for Range operations. * Maintain a good rapport with technical support personnel for assigned projects. * Evaluate and recommend component suppliers and vendor capabilities. Acts as liaison with approved vendors/suppliers to maintain product/process availability and working relationship. * Serve as an interface for project information to internal management and customers. * Establish procedures for verification of requirements and specifications against selected network hardware through bench and integrated systems testing. * Recommend and apply network security processes and mechanisms to ensure the integrity of mission critical network systems and ensure the safety of personnel and flight hardware. * Support the development and maintenance of configuration control and inventory documentation. * Create detailed documentation including functional and logical diagrams. * Travel as needed to support launch operations, maintenance, or new network deployments Required Skills * Ability to manage and troubleshoot mission critical networks to ensure reliable operational performance. * Ability to prepare, objectively review, and deliver technical presentations is required. * Ability to multi-task while keeping attention to detail. Required Experience * Bachelor of Science in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) * Two (2) or more years of experience as a Network Engineer * Experience with network design, network hardware procurement, network integration, and maintenance of network systems. * Experienced in troubleshooting network anomalies and failures. * Proven experience in the integration and testing of HW (servers, networking devices, clients) and testing of software (Operating Systems, networked applications, Databases, etc.) * Experience with clustering technologies in virtual machine environments. * Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISA, GSE, SCNA , CISSP, CASP CE). Candidates must be prepared to provide proof of current certification or other DoD-recognized higher level certification at the time of application. * Solid understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols. * Proficient with Windows based computer systems and components * Knowledgeable in designing, installing, and maintaining IP and serial integrated cyber security compliant networks utilizing multiple network vendor platforms (Cellworx, Juniper, Cisco, General Datacom, etc.), to include Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), and Access Control System (ACS). * Multi-vendor network design experience in the support of mission critical real-time data, voice and video circuits. * Previous experience with Virtualization is highly desirable. * Previous experience with VoIP and IP Video systems is highly desirable. * Previous experience with DoD and/or U.S. Air Force network administration and engineering of unclassified and classified networks is a significant plus. * Demonstrated experience and capabilities interfacing with high-level U.S. Air Force customers and with multiple DoD Agencies is a significant plus. * Understanding of OPSEC requirements for the U.S. Air Force is a significant plus * Ability to work at various locations and occasional extended stays during emergencies and exercises. * Ability to work occasional after hours, weekends and holidays to support launch schedules * Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship or U.S. naturalization * Valid U.S. Driver's License required What We Offer: * Everyday Wellness: Access to on-base facilities including: fitness centers, pool, bowling alley, recreational facilities, beach access and restaurants. * Financial Opportunities: 401k savings program with company match and vesting on day one, retail and merchant employee discount programs, life insurance, business travel insurance and more. * Work/Life Balance: Tuition reimbursement programs and flexible schedules. * Equal Opportunity: Commitment to diversity and strategic partnerships.
