Job Description:

Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Controller the Financial Analyst will support the Finance Department with development, reporting and analysis of data. This includes, but is not limited to budgets, payroll, statistics, new service development and other matters as approved. The position will provide analysis in support internal monthly and annual financial reporting. District Responsibility:Support of the District Mission and ValuesDemonstrate Respect, Professionalism and Courtesy to all patients, visitors, other providers and coworkers, as delineated in the LVMC "Commitment to Care".Constantly use C-I-CARE principles when communicating with others.Performance Improvement ActivitiesProfessional DevelopmentPosition Duties/Responsibility: Researches and analyzes data from a variety of sources. Prepares and designs analytical reports, financial trending and data analysis reports from those sources. Verifies accuracy of data.Analyzes research and interprets results, variances and trends of hospital census information. Summarizes and formats information using tables, graphs and other styles to support decision-making.Generates regular & Ad-hoc reports, including census trending, drill down analysis.Provides technical assistance to the department heads in preparing budget during the year, with any problems in current budget.Provides support service to management in the preparation, interpretation and monitoring of departmental budgets.Coordinates the explanations of major variances/adjustments between actual and budget for all departments.Maintain statistical information for the District external cost reports for Medicare, Medi-Cal, OSHPD, the State Controller and other outside agencies as required.Experience with Excel, Word, Outlook and familiarity with accounting software.Performs additional duties as assigned.Essential Functions:Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.Ability to prepare, analyze and interpret various financial report forms and statements.Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills.Communicates accurately, honestly, supportively and in a timely manner with department and interdepartmental team members.Ability to exercise good judgment and tact.Working knowledge of computers and computerized systems required.Proficient in Microsoft applications; experience with developing pivot tables, v-look tables, etc. developing databases using access.Demonstrate the ability to work independently and highly organized.Position Qualifications:Education: Bachelor Degree preferred - with emphasis or major in business finance, accounting or related field.Experience: A minimum of 3 years of strong working knowledge in accounting, budgeting and high-level spreadsheet maintenance. 5 years Hospital/Healthcare accounting experience preferred.Certifications: None necessary.Skills/Ability: Proficient in Microsoft software applications, such as Excel and Outlook. Exercises good judgment under stress. Demonstrates initiative, tact and poise. LVMC reserves the right to modify the minimum requirements depending on the needs of the organization.
